Foood!

Had a lovely weekend away, living the city life!
On Friday I went to the newly opened Almost Famous Burger kitchen and had a deelicious chilli dawg and baconaise fries (sweet potato and potato seasoned fries with bacon mayonaise and bacon bits, a real heart stopper!)
With a nice bottle of lager each aswell, a meal for two came to £25 which is a real bargain for the quality of food and the quirky building and interior (a garage where the front of the restaurant opens fully for those wanting an alfresco experience with a difference!)

Then we went on to Camp and Furnace on the edge of town; a brilliant concept venue that manages to be a cosy bar and huge warehouse events venue using caravans and cut down trees as decoration (on the trees there is a sign that says 'shake it wont break!'). Fun is encouraged at every opportunity with events like food slam (when the warehouse section is filled with street food stalls) and rockaoke (a karaoke night that gets filled to the rafters as you sing from a stage in a real live music venue). I cant wait to go again!

90's Minimalism- a revival?

My latest trend obsession hark's back to the 90's minimalist and utilitarian trend with a little grunge thrown in for good measure.

As a period when I first began to develop and interest in fashion; the 90's hold many interesting fashion memories (the spice girls, nirvana, kate moss & jonny depp...) and promote a kind of nostalgia in my heart that makes me feel like a little girl playing dress up again! There is a distinct naughties twist to the trend thanks to new fabric and garment technolgies, which makes the look clean, current, modern and wearable.

To get the look try sheer/silky slips, a-line & asymetric mini's, crop tops, contrasting textures worn together (wool, leather, silk, lace), chunky shoes, overalls (a tricky one to pull off!), simple slouchy knits & t-shirts, statement gold & silver jewellery, a neutral/monochrome colour palette all topped off with dark sunglasses, a toned physique and a kick ass tan!
This trend is perfect for summer when we are all that little bit more active and slapping on the rimmel sun shimmer!
*for a really modern twist and a little colour, add a splash of neon or metallic (anything holographic is bang on trend at the moment!)
